The Start of a Whirlwind of Events
The whirlwind of events started with my award as the winner of the 2010 Cox Conservation Heroes Award. Cox Communications, in partnership with The Trust for Public Land and through sponsorship by Think Blue San Diego, and Kyocera Communications, Inc, honored San Diego’s environmental heroes. I was one of the top three finalist who was nominated for my Messenger Dolls Project. The winner was determined by who received the most votes online.
I was content being one of the top 3 finalists and was just blown away when it was announced on June 29th at an event held at the rooftop of the Solamar Hotel that I was the first place winner. All of the finalists were spoiled that day with an introduction at the Padre Game and VIP Box tickets, which included an amazing view of the game and all the food we can eat. We were also treated with backpacks filled with goodies, including an iPod.
